Evil Ed - it took a surprisingly long time for his vilifying the 'evil benefits scroungers' - in itself though such rhetoric from right-wing parties is the norm and one imagines he'll go further still (he - actually his comments were backed up by a senior Labour figure).
This sort of talk cheers the Tory heartlands of Middle England but is less well received in Scotland.
Simple maths from his perspective - as far as he's concerned Scotland has maxed-out. Scotland can't return any more MPs than it does now and the Tories are still in power.
He requires to win the Tory vote in England and is presuming the SNP Holyrood election won't translate to Westminster.
That's a gamble - he's a gambler - but we'll see.
I think the SNP will do well IF the current momentum continues.
